TREB Turns Soil in Habitat for Humanity's Summer Blitz Build

June 11, 2004--The Toronto Real Estate Board and its affinity partners presented $60,000 to Habitat for Humanity Toronto on June 14th to construct a townhouse in Habitat’s upcoming blitz build.

Construction of 40 condominium town homes takes place at Neilson and Tapscott Roads in Scarborough from June 26 to July 17.

The OREA Foundation, which assists REALTORS in re-investing in the communities they serve, matched funds raised by TREB’s and its affinity partners such as Concord CityPlace, to reach this achievement.

TREB President Cynthia Lai says the contribution is indicative of REALTORs’ interest in the communities they serve. "REALTORS are tremendous contributors to their communities and we are very proud to have achieved this large scale undertaking on their behalf. Many will further contribute by participating in the build."

Habitat for Humanity International works in 92 countries around the world and builds another home with those in need every 26 minutes. Across Canada, one in five children lives in poverty. TREB joins Habitat for Humanity in its commitment to helping families achieve the dream of home ownership.
